Welcome Summer!

So I am back home from college and have been for the past 2 and half weeks. When I was at school, I felt as if summer couldn't come any sooner. I needed a break and was ready to get home to my mama's cookin'. Well I am finally here and I must say after the initial few days of simply laying around and doing nothing, I am completely bored. My friends at home are always a great diversion but we all have our different schedules and many of them decided to go to summer school so we are all apart. There is only so much shopping, cooking, and movie watching that you can do. I am ready to get out and go. I will possibly going to Greenville, SC to visit a friend this weekend who just moved in to an apartment there so hopefully that will provide a wonderful diversion. Greenville, if you haven't been, is such a great city. There is so much to do, so many places to shop and eat, great nightlife, and wonderful wonderful people. I have called Greenville home for the past year and I am so excited to be going back if only for the weekend!

My sister has been begging me to go to her yoga class with her. I am not exactly the yoga type. Don't get me wrong. I am really athletic and love going to the gym but I am just not sure that I can sit with my legs behind my head and still take myself seriously. Well, I came up with excuses and skipped out on the first two classes but finally, last night, she convinced me to go. I was expecting this really laid back and relaxing hippie like class. You know the whole gong music and patchouli in the air type thing? Well it was completely different. There were about 5 of us in the class so I guess you could say it was a very "intimate" experience. They cut all the lights out and cut on this floor lamp to create what I guess they thought was a relaxing ambiance. The teacher then pulls out this google print out page and instructs the first positions while reading off the sheet. But here's the kicker: she then pulls out another google printout with a picture of a man putting his foot on top of his head in a position called "the dancer". This, she says, is what we will accomplish during the class. All I could thing was "yea right!" and I think I might have actually thought it out loud as the instructor then proceeded to ask me if I was all right. I said we'll see and then proceeded with my stretches. The class went well and I think I might actually enjoy yoga, I simply cannot stand the instructor. The entire time she whined about her day and then made up excuses about why she couldn't do all of the poses. She then instructed us all to meditate quietly. As we all began to meditate quietly, she began to tell us more about her horrible day and how her back her. I swear! I simply cannot and will not care about your problems when I am trying to meditate my own away!

Oh well... I start work tomorrow so that should occupy more of my time and extend my shopping budget!

This post made me laugh. I had a similar experience at one of my yoga classes except try throwing in a queer man making sex noises. oo yes, it happened.

Wait...holy heck...I just saw that you go/went to college in Greenville, SC. Do you go to Furman?!?! I did to! I found you from Red & White Preppy.

Hope you did go to FU! if you did, could you let me know what sorority you are in! Sorry, this seems like a spazy thing, but I miss the south and Furman like crazy!
